The very end of the spit, Cape Farewell is a 6000 strong gannet colony. At this time of the year, they are feeding their chicks, big fluffy white blobs about to get their adult feathers and practice flying. This is a close as we got, but the adults were flying off to fish overhead and I got several very bad photos and one or two stunners!
Gannets are my favourites. The gannetry at Noss in Shetland is spectacular too. So good to see these wonderful photos from the other end of the globe.
