Happy Fathers Day

Img005

This is 1935 and that is My Dad accepting First Prize for the Daily Mail sponsored Sand Castle Competition. This is Southport and Dad is nine. And this is one of my favourite photographs of all time.
Happy Fathers Day to all Dads, but especially mine.

Great picture, Happy Fathers day from Sheila & Alan

Who would have thought, on that day so long ago that one day, people in Outer Mongolia would be setting their alarm clocks in order to be awake in time to see the latest update the moment it appeared only to be confronted with a picture of me. Our Mum took 'us five' on several occasion's to a secluded stretch of Southport sands so that we could each practice our chosen tasks. It paid off because my sister got third prize. Love.....and thanks. Dad.

and greetings to all my outer mongolian readers
love you dad

What a really nice thoughtful post. I love old photos.

What a great photo! Charming! Is that an old-timey microphone I see there on the right-hand side?

That bolnde kid does not look happy with second place.

It happens to be my favourite photo as well. Thanks for resurrecting it sis! Happy Dad's Day Dad! A

That is a wonderful photo.

Yes Zoe, it is an ' old-timey microphone' - and to think - once upon a time that was state-of-the-art technology!

Testing, testing, 1-2-3 - Can you hear me at the back?!!!

:-)

How wonderful to have this photo of your father.Sand castles are such a british thing aren't they, often abroad they've never heard of them. Imagine a childhood on a beach without sandcastles and donkey's. They might have the sun abroad, but I prefer a brithish seaside day out above them all!

oh, your such a honey!! I've just seen I'm on your blog list, I'm so happy you like to visit me! I love to visit here too!

A fantastic picture. Each and every expression is precious but your father's, in particular, is the best.
