Where does the time go?

I can't believe a week has gone - thank you for all the lovely comments - Dad has the proper name for the amazing blue flowers - I know them as 'ornamental thistle' but Dad has the real name - echinops ritro. He is also asking for news of the lathyrus odaratus. Ashamed to say I had to Google that to discover he meant sweet peas. When the weather is bright enough I will organise a picture, but don't get too excited.

Thanks too for the vegetable compliments! We have been enjoying garden produce for a while now - there is nothing to beat it!

Wendy - a tutorial! What a great idea - I will apply myself to that one as soon as I have a spare afternoon!

And my lovely Martha - good to hear that the course has started. Sorry you are so hot - today we had torrential rain - just as Geoff had gone to dig up the remaining broad beans!

Some news and photos of life in the north this week. On Wednesday, we helped Pauline move into her new house. She had told us a little about it but neglected to say who the neighbours are.

These alpacas are in the field next to her house. I didn't shift much furniture after I discovered these guys!

Knitting on Tuesday was lovely. I am trying to post pictures of what everyone was working on and I am jinxed! I'll have one last try!

One to five from top left -

  1. Marilyn - loopy scarf for one of her three gorgeous girls
  2. Annie - lacy scarf for her gorgeous girl
  3. Dorothy - another jumper for her grandson Angus, because he hasn't got many clothes! (ha!)
  4. Angie - visiting from Chichester with a very complicated bit of knitting
  5. My socks - on the last few rows ready to be wrapped up for Roe's birthday tomorrow.

Here is todays Saturday Sky taken by Owen out of the bedroom window.

Well sis, I've got you to thank for a couple of things. Firstly, Mum just sent me THREE pairs of socks, which are perfect and which I never have off mu feet. Second - Sheila is also knitting me socks, although her output is nowhere near as prolific as Mum's is!

So now I have two people knitting me socks! Mum does the straight-forward ones and Sheila the fancy ones, although nothing like as fancy as those above - they are amazing!

Feel quite posh! I can now tell everyone that I have my socks made specially, by hand! They are the centre of attention wherever I go! Thanks sis! x

You will be knitting with that alpaca before long I bet. The tuesday knit chicks are busy girls, wonderful work. Please may I have a slice of that pizza :o)

hello lovely family,
home looks so good with the rainbows and the rain. We had rain today! it was quite amazing and we went on the roof to stand and soak up all the moisture. It has turned all the dust in the streets to mud so walking is how quite mirey and not recommended in flipflops which are the only shoes i have. I won't tell you any more things because I'm putting them in a letter, I have to tell you about the letter so you can work out how long it takes to get there if it gets there at all.

Owen-- that is quite magnificent bread, I am most proud of my baking brother- will you make some for when I get back please?
When I get back (on the 25th evening) I can stay a night in London and get a train straight home on the 26th- I can't imagine why you might object to this idea- the ticket are 20 at the moment. University starts on the 5th oct, could we drive down to bristol for that time? I'll ring you soon and work all this out.

Happy birthday Roe, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I hope her and Thea are well. Bristol, South Africa, Syria... I will actually come home and see you one day..

And all the Knitting is looking a bit good, I saw some knitting needles in a shop the other day but no wool, the man laughed at me and said that knitting was for the winter and I didn't have the words to say- but look at ipod covers silly man, they're a year-round necessity!

This should probably actually have been an email, I will go now therefore for juice and baraka (deep fried cheese) at our best cafe.
I love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
