Camera Help Please
One of the knitting group was asking me about cameras the other day, she wants to buy a new one and is a bit overwhelmed by the choice. I thought you lovely bloggers would have some good recommendations for her? She wants to take great pictures but not break the bank! What features do you enjoy using on your current model or what is the camera of your dreams and why? You can either email or leave a comment and I will pass your thoughts on. Many thanks.
And speaking of knitters, let me tell you about the Wonderful Knitters of Hexham and our latest project. It involves making these
and training, not to knit but to walk. Nine of us are going to Edinburgh in June to walk the Moon Walk for Breast Cancer. We have signed up for the Half Moon - 13.1 miles - which might be a gentle stroll for some people but is starting to fill me with dread the nearer it gets!
We are holding various fund raising events, the first is this Friday evening when the lovely Caffe Nero, where we meet every week, have agreed to stay open late and let us run amok with sponsored knitting, lucky dip, tombola and whatever else we collectively think of to raise money. It starts at 6.00 pm and goes on until we have reached our target .... no not really .... until 8.00 pm. Anyone who is anywhere near Hexham on Friday 13th should come as it is going to be .... well .....wonderful!
Of course most of the people reading this will have an excellent excuse not to come on Friday, largely to do with huge stretches of land and water. Never fear! we have set up a dedicated bank account to receive donations.
Nat West Bank, Battle Hill, Hexham, Northumberland, UK
are primed to receive cheques of all sizes into the account called The Wonderful Knitters of Hexham (of course)
I always write that in bold for some reason and now I have said that, I am aware that I say it in bold too!
Wish us luck!!
Who exactly is modelling that bra, it should have been featured in colour week. I wish i could come to that coffee evening. Anyway, cameras, I have a little canon ixus and love it, because it is small and i just press it and it works, lots of features on it but I am a numpty so don't use it to it's full capacity.

I don't often get jealous. And I have no advice about the camera (thowwy).
But I'm SO jealous of your knitting prowess! I wish I could knit like that. I had a look at your work and it's beautiful. I've tried knitting several times, but I so suck at it. I can crochet pretty well, but I hate crocheting -- to me, it's the 'lesser' version of knitting. I feel like I'm cheating and the results betray me.

Love the bra... but it looks slightly itchy... and I love the way you put the Wonderful Knitters of Hexham not just in bold but With Capital Letters!! And why not?

Gorgeous bra, hope the walk won't be too exhausting. Are you all going to wear the knitted bras?

On the camera front, depending on your definition of bank breaking, I use a Nikon D40 SLR which I bought with my partner as joint birthday presents for each other. It's about £379 and does all sorts of tricks but also takes great point and shoot photos. Have a look on Flickr ( I'm there under Magnusmog ) most of the photos will also tell you what camera was used and your knitting friend can see what results other folk get with their choice of camera. We also looked at the Which Guide to cameras that we found in the local library. Hope she finds a good one :)

Hi Kate I love my canon ixus which a techie friend recommended to me - it's mostly point and press but the results are consistently good. Evidence on flickr username Drift if your friend wants to see...

Can't help much on the camera but good luck with the fundraising and training! I'll be writing all about the London one after the big night!
