Morsbags

The last day of sewing at Annie's house where the final sweatshop saw another day of activity. Sue felt compelled to draw many graphs to illustrate progress
Img_3655
the bottom axis reads 'Everyone (speed x mania)' and it did get a bit manic as we sewed towards the final 180 bags!
Anne_the_bag_lady
Anne the bag lady with all her homework!
Label_ironing
ironing on the labels - peeling the backing was tricky!
Bag_availablity
Sue wasn't really idle and bag availability did soar towards the end of the day.

So now they are done and I can't tell you how excited I am at the prospect of giving them away soon and reducing the numbers of plastic bags out there in Hexham.

and what if the handles don't match - do we care? no.
I'll tell you when the distribution date is when it is confirmed and so anyone living near Waitrose in Hexham can come and get one!

Gosh, well done - you are all angels. It's such a good idea, everyone trying to help others to do their bit. And who wouldn't want to own a Hexham Knitters Group original?!

Do you sell these bags to Bloggy friends Katie? I have an obsession with reuseable shopping bags. We holiday regularly in Ireland. They are much further on there with the whole recycle, reuse, reduce thing. Plastic bags dont exist. I love it.
My husband also realises the importance for the affore mentioned obession. Also Tesco now do bagless online delivery. Again - hurrah

Well done - what a fantastic achievement. Can I buy one also? Hope you get lots of press coverage. What does the label say?

Go girls...your on a role:-)
Take care,

I think the whole morsbag concept is brilliant and you girls all deserve medals for the amount of effort you have put in. Hope you all have the greatest fun handing out the bags at Waitrose.

Marvelous idea! Wished I lived closer.

What a fabulous achievement, I do hope the hand-out of the bags goes well. I always have my faithful shopping trolley with me when I shop at my nearest Waitrose and one of the checkout ladies there says it is music to her ears when I announce I don't need a carrier bag, thanks.

Wow.. what an achievement. I am in awe. Here in America, we are behind on the bag issue as a population. We were in Sweden a while, where they charge for bags, and I think they should do that here. Cloth bags are popular in some circles, and here, we do use them.. although they are all giveaway bags from technical conventions my dh attends..not lovely like yours. And I hate when I forget them. I do resuse the paper bags as mulch in my veggie garden... very nice for holding back the weeds. The plastic bags are recycled, but I think reuse of the cloth bags a much better option.

Amazing work Katie, you should all be very proud.

Good idea!
Kind regards,

A grand job...the future will thank you.

Hey Katie, I have TAGGED you for a great meme over at my place. Enjoy!

Hi - I'm a regular on morsbags.com & was interested and jealous that you did your giveaway a few days ago with TV crew in tow! Did the item go out & are you able to let us know if it is still findable on the web? Well done Hexham knitters - you certainly gave away lots of bags! Are you intending to do more? I loved all the graphs by the way!
Happy morsbagging! Love Beattie
